World Book Day

World Book Day – PaT Dog Visit – Thursday 5th March

As part of our Reading for Enjoyment agenda and Read2Dogs project, on World Book Day (05/03/2020), P2, P2/3, P3 and P4 will be receiving a visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs Blue and Morna and their handler Catriona Addy. Catriona will be reading pupils a short story featuring Blue and Morna. Pupils will get the chance to ask questions and interact with the dogs if they would like to.

If anyone has any concerns about phobias or allergies or any further questions about what the visit will entail then please contact Miss Earnshaw (Acting Principal Teacher) through the school office – crown.primary@highland.gov.uk

This Week’s Learning!

In literacy this week we have continued to work on inference – we have used both pictures and texts and tried to read between the lines and understand what is going on. In writing we have been making our own invitations.

In numeracy and maths this week we have continued with multiplication – learning our tables, 2/3 digit multiplication – mentally and the standard written method. We have also been continuing our topic of time.

In expressive arts we have been research the work of famous artists and trying to create our own masterpiece using a variety of media and methods.

In science we have been thinking about electricity safety and designing some eye-catching safety posters.

This Week’s Learning

Another busy week in Primary 4! In literacy this week we have been learning about literal and inferential questions. We have also been working very hard to learn our common word spelling. Class spelling will resume next week. In writing we have been leaning to write invitations.

In maths this week we have been working very hard to learn our times tables. Any extra work that can be done on times tables over the weekend would be much appreciated!

In science this week we had lots of fun learning to build circuits. We all managed to connect a bulb, buzzer and fan. We have also investigated safety around electricity.

Other learning this week included logging on chromebooks and accessing the internet – still a tricky job for some, coding with the SSPCA and having our last swimming lesson.
