This Week’s Learning

In literacy this week we have started our new class novel – The Boy at the Back of the Class. Through this book we have been learning to visualise the characters and beginning to ask and answer literal questions. We will continue our learning on literal questions next week.

In maths we have been learning to multiply by 10 and 100. We have also been learning our times tables individually.

In science we have been make and testing predictions about solids dissolving in water and relating our findings to the world around us. It has been amazing to see all the follow up learning that has been happening at home! Well done everyone!

Science Crazy!

Primary 4 are loving their science topic this term! This week we have been learning about freezing and boiling temperatures and which solids dissolve in water. Well done to all the supportive parents who let their children continue investigations at home! Science can be a messy business!

This Week’s Learning

What a super week we have had in Primary 4! I can hardly believe it is Friday already!

In Literacy this week we have been learning to spell words with the long a sound. We have also been learning what nouns and verbs are. In our literacy jotters we are working hard to improve the presentation of our work.

In numeracy and maths we are learning to tell the time in o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to, analogue and digital. This target will continue and be extended over the coming weeks. We have also been working on the written method of subtraction which the children have really enjoyed.

This week we have also started our Science topic for the term which has been met enthusiastically by the children. We learned about how water can change from one form to another – solids, liquids and gases and we related our findings to the water cycle. Well done to all the children who managed to consolidate their learning at home by conducting their own watery experiements! Lots more fun experiments in the coming weeks!

In numeracy and maths this week we have continued with our subtraction topic and have started working on time – o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past and beyond for some.

On Thursday afternoon we had a lovely time developing our health and well-being. We listened to a mediation story, lay on the carpet to relax, took part in peer massage and shared our personal relaxation tips!
